They already had the name, Blas y Tir, meaning Taste of the Land in Welsh – very appropriate – and came to us to explore visual expressions. We worked with marketing strategist Caroline Hanna who developed the brand strategy and unsurprisingly, Welshness was identified as one of the key triggers for local people to choose a brand.
We offered a number of design approaches and our hand-drawn, type-based logo symbolised their home-grown, local attributes and was the solution that ticked all the boxes.
The brand was first applied to daffodils for St David’s Day and was very well received by the retail buyers and the Welsh public, so we were tasked with creating packaging for their full range of standard plus and premium potatoes and vegetables.
We supported the brand with point of sale and in-store graphics to give the brand high visibility within the commodity aisle. With website, vehicles, event graphics, clothing and just about every other application, Blas y Tir is one of the most comprehensive projects in our portfolio.
